OPS- Sam Houston Jones Park, Westlake, La, oil painting, Plein Air

    

March 14,2026, I went to  Sam Houston Jones Park in Westlake, La to plein air paint with the Outdoor Painters Society. We  had to greatest time. I brought one of my students and we had a wonderful time.  I love painting the Bayou and this painting is no exception.

Lots of people were out in the park. Toni and I will go there again!  She loved Plein Air.  I saw  three of my favorite  painting buddies and caught up.  Help me put a name to this painting!!   What would you name it?

 "Natural Haven of Elephant Unity." This piece, which showcases two elephants standing closely together in a lush, natural setting, holds a special place in my heart. The intimate bond between the elephants is conveyed through their positioning and the detailed brushwork that captures the texture of their skin and the richness of the backdrop. Working predominantly with natural shades of green, brown, and gray, I aimed to create a realistic environment, reminiscent of a forest or savanna.
The inspiration for this painting came from my deep admiration for the gentle giants of the animal kingdom and their strong family bonds. One unique aspect of creating this piece was experimenting with a blend of soft and defined strokes to balance texture and detail, achieving a harmonious and lifelike depiction.
