Part of this painting was done in a class and I finished it in my studio. I used a limited palette of Black and White with touches of Red in the mixture.  The painting was fun and hard to do. It measures 16"x12 and with the frame it measures 15"x19". This is what you call a value painting and a limited palette.

I'm excited to share my latest painting, "Serenade of Small Boats." This 11x14 oil on canvas panel captures three small boats floating gently on a calm body of water. The reflections and the serene waterfront setting create a tranquil ambiance, enhanced by a palette of cooler tones with red, white, and blue hues. The artwork is a painting of a single rose with a deep  pinks and whites hue. The rose is depicted at a stage where the blossom is partially opened, showcasing some interior petal layers as well as the outer petals curving outward. The rose's stem and several green leaves are visible embodying the flower's delicate nature. The coloration suggests light playing across the petals at the edges, giving the flower a vibrant and somewhat velvety texture. An emphasis on contrasting shades creates a sense of depth, with the darker background making the rose stand prominently as the focal point of the composition.

Small miniature pink rose is one of my daily paintings.  Signed and not framed

I am doing Limited palette studies and this is one.  I pick three colors and white to do a painting. This one I used French Ultramarine blue, Alizrin Crimson, Lemon Yellow and white.  It makes you think and is a great exercise.

The pileated woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus) is a large, mostly black woodpecker native to North America. An insectivore, it inhabits deciduous forests in eastern North America, the Great Lakes, the boreal forests of Canada, and parts of the Pacific Coast. It is the largest extant woodpecker species in the United States. 

 

 I almost flipped, when we saw this one near our birdfeeder. He was so big.!
